Gathering of people started right after Mass in front of the presbytery. Carollers were given warm sausages and a tea, so their energy last the whole day of carolling, and set out to frosty Krkonoše's plain towards cottages. Na Štěpána (St.Stephen's Day) mainly kids went caroling with a song on their lips, but also for example teachers. As a reward, the carolers got a pastry or small change. Štěpánská koleda (carol) in Studenec is a rare proof of living tradition of perambulation in Podkrkonoší, and that's why it was recorded in the list of intangible objects of Liberec region.
